HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN I ORDER?The earlier the better. My schedule fills up fairly quickly especially around Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. As soon as you begin planning your event reach out to me. For weddings, a 3 – 6 months advance notice is preferred. This gives us time to schedule a tasting if you so desire.

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO CUT A SINGLE TIER CAKE?The cutting method can vary depending on whether you’re using a traditional style or an event style. Traditional style involves a typical wedge slice. Event Style involves a square or rectangular slice by using a grid-like cutting technique which in most cases will maximize your servings. Cake cutting tip to maximize servings:

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TIERS & LAYERS?Cake Layers: These are the individual horizontal slices of cake that are stacked on top of each other within a single tier. Layers are typically separated by fillings such as frosting, cream, or jam. A single cake tier can have multiple layers. Our single tier cake may consist of 2-4 layers, with 3 layers being the standard. Cake Tiers: These refer to the vertical sections of a cake, where each tier is a separate cake that is stacked on top of another. Tiers are often used in larger cakes, such as wedding cakes, to create height and visual impact. Each tier can consist of multiple layers. Our tiered cakes may consist of 2-4 layers stacked as tiers of varying sizes. Example of layers and tiers :

HOW LONG SHOULD CAKE SIT OUT OF THE FRIDGE BEFORE SERVING?A cake should typically sit out at room temperature for 1-2 hours before serving, allowing it to reach the best texture and flavor after being refrigerated. However, the exact time may vary depending on the room temperature and the type of cake and frosting used.

HOW DO I STORE MY UNEATEN CAKE?You should store your uneaten cake by wrapping in plastic wrap or place in an airtight container. If you plan to eat the it within a couple of days, you may keep it at room temperature in the cake box or an airtight container. However, cakes with fruit or fruit fillings should be kept in the refrigerator and taken out when ready to eat.

DO YOU PROVIDE CAKE AND/OR CUPCAKE STANDS?I do not provide stands for rental. I will suggest stand sizes based on your cake size & cupcake quantity.

CAN I PICK UP MY TIERED CAKE?While I do not suggest it, you’re certainly at liberty to do so. Including delivery and set-up ensures your cake is transported and set-up safely, leaving you with one less thing to worry about on the day of your event.

CAN YOU HOLD MY DATE WITHOUT A DEPOSIT?No. A deposit lets me know that you are serious about booking with me. However, I am flexible and understanding. If you would absolutely love to book with me and would like to discuss a specific deposit date, please let me know.

DO YOU OFFER CAKE TASTINGS?Yes. Only for weddings booked 3 – 6 months in advance. Charges may vary.

DO YOU ACCEPT LAST MINUTE ORDERS?Yes. If the date is available, and it is within five days of your event. Full balance is due at the time ordered is placed.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?Yes. Unless it is a last-minute order, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours to secure your order and date. Deposits not received within 24 hours will be cancelled and your date may become unavailable. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required for weddings.

HOW FAR DO YOU DELIVER?I deliver within the local DC/MD/VA but have delivered as far as Richmond, VA. Delivery fee is based on location.

HOW MANY FLAVORS CAN I PICK?For one tier cakes, you may select 1 flavor. For multi-tiered cakes, you can select 1 flavor per tier. For cupcakes, you can select 1 flavor per dozen. Fees may apply depending on flavors selected.

DO YOU DELIVER ON SUNDAY?No. Unfortunately, we are closed on Sundays. If your order is for a Sunday event you may arrange for pickup or request deliver for Saturday.
